The biggest highlight ended up being the first episode of Zombies cooperative mode, which took place on the set of a horror film in a retro futuristic theme park and had a terrific wit with action to match. It made for eight or nine hours of mindless military sci-fi fun, butВ provided little reason to dive back in.Д¬ompetitive multiplayer, meanwhile, delivered the sort of solid, well-balanced play for which the franchise is renowned, but didnвЂ™t take advantage of the gameвЂ™s space theme in any particularly clever ways. Its campaign was among the most visually spectacular of the year, but the action was surprisingly run of the mill, and the science was beyond hokey. Infinity WardвЂ™s bold gambit to launch Call of Duty into the solar system last fall via Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare may have resulted in the best-selling game of 2016, but my experience of the blockbuster sci-fi shooter felt a bit lumpy.
